One of the pitfalls of today's cheap FUE, and an ever growing problem is the intensive harvesting that is done and mostly in the occipital area of the scalp. This is a poor approach because the grafts here are not suitable for finer hairline work and secondly this is the thickest and richest area of the donor that is then also being sacrificed for a hairline. So, further loss will then be a problem for the patient when the richest part of the donor has been severely depleted. Add to this the hairline will invariable need repair and therefore a second surgery.

We are very pleased to present the following patient case at only 6 months post-surgery. Many thanks to the patient for sharing his images.

The patient attended consultation with the goal of rebuilding his hairline for better facial framing, reinforcing a small area within the frontal forelock, and restoring his crown. This was achieved using 2,955 grafts via FUE.

The patient, in his mid-30s, has been committed to a medication regimen for several years prior to surgery and continues with it post-operatively.

This case presented challenges due to the patient's donor area characteristics. Despite having an average density of 70 follicles per cm², his donor area was predominantly composed of 2-hair grafts. When restoring crown loss, grafts with higher hair groupings (3 or 4 hairs) can significantly impact the total hair count and the illusion of density. Despite this, the crown has really grown in very nicely even at this early stage.
